The six verification steps

  2. 2. Bar number checked and in good standingBar number verified against the state licensing roll — no suspensions or discipline pending.
  3. 3. Malpractice coverage on fileCurrent coverage confirmed, or a written explanation on file for clinics that self-insure.
  4. 4. No-fee pledge signedNo fees, no costs and no contingency taken from a family DBATR refers. Ever.
  5. 5. Conflict check completedNo adverse role in a DBATR case, and no conflict with the families being referred.
  6. 6. One reference reachedA past client, court, or partner organization who can vouch for the work.
