A Dream Big Buffalo movement · Public draft, evolving out loud
H.E.A.L. Day
Health · Empathy · Action · Love
Freedom from what broke us.
Freedom to heal each other.
Juneteenth marks the day freedom finally reached the people it was already owed to — a day that belongs first to the Black community who lived it, fought for it, and still carry it. H.E.A.L. Day doesn't replace that. It builds on it, with respect: a public holiday for hurting people of every shape, size, and color, and for the healing we've all been waiting on for too long. Nothing taken from anyone — just more of us standing on the same spine together.
What the letters carry
Bodies, minds, and nervous systems that got taxed by systems that failed. Real care — not just prescriptions and paperwork.
The lived-experience kind. Built by the people who've been through it, for the people still in it.
Block parties, comfort spaces, real resources on the ground. Progress you can touch the same day.
Raw, hard, keep-showing-up love. For neighbors, for survivors, for the everyday heroes who serve without a title.
The tagline
H.E.A.L. Day — Juneteenth, and every day after, for the everyday people who carry everyone else.
This page is a public working draft. Ideas land here as they come. If you want in — organizing a block party, running a comfort station, offering care, telling your story — reach out through Dream Big Buffalo.
